How to dispose of Antifreeze & Coolant

Steps

  1. Never pour antifreeze down drains or on the ground — it's toxic to animals and children.
  2. Collect used antifreeze in a sealed, labeled container.
  3. Take to an auto parts store — many accept used antifreeze for free (AutoZone, O'Reilly).
  4. Check your local hazardous waste facility for antifreeze recycling.
  5. Used antifreeze can be professionally recycled and reconditioned for reuse.

Antifreeze (ethylene glycol) is highly toxic — even small amounts can be fatal to pets and children. Its sweet taste makes it attractive to animals.
