How to dispose of Small Appliances (Toaster, Blender, etc.) in New York

Can be recycled through NYC e-waste events.

General steps

  1. If working: Donate to Goodwill, Salvation Army, or list on Buy Nothing groups.
  2. If broken: Check for small appliance recycling at your local recycling center.
  3. Some retailers accept small appliances for recycling.
  4. Remove only user-replaceable batteries following the manual. Do not dismantle sealed batteries, microwave components or other hazardous internals; ask the recycler for instructions.
  5. Metal-heavy appliances can go to scrap metal recyclers.
