How to dispose of Christmas Trees

Steps

1. Remove ALL decorations, lights, tinsel, and the tree stand.
2. Check your city's curbside Christmas tree pickup schedule (usually first 2 weeks of January).
3. Take to a designated tree recycling drop-off location to be chipped into mulch.
4. Cut into small sections if your trash hauler requires it for green waste pickup.
5. Some cities offer curbside chipping — place unbagged tree at curb on scheduled days.

Recycled Christmas trees are turned into mulch, compost, sand/erosion barriers, and fish habitat in lakes.
