How to dispose of Clothing & Textiles

Steps

  1. If wearable: Donate to Goodwill, Salvation Army, local shelters, or consignment shops.
  2. If worn out: Many retailers (H&M, Nike, Patagonia) accept old clothing for recycling.
  3. Textile recycling bins are available at many parking lots and community centers.
  4. Cut up old clothes for use as cleaning rags before discarding.
  5. As a last resort, bag tightly and place in regular trash.

Even stained or torn clothing can often be donated — textile recyclers sort and process them.
