How to dispose of Concrete, Brick & Asphalt

Steps

  1. Concrete, brick, and asphalt are highly recyclable — search for C&D recycling facilities nearby.
  2. Many facilities accept clean concrete and brick for free or low cost.
  3. Remove rebar, wire mesh, and other metal before delivering for recycling.
  4. Small amounts may be reused as fill, drainage material, or garden borders.
  5. Never put in regular trash or curbside recycling — too heavy and can damage equipment.

Recycled concrete is crushed into aggregate for road base, new concrete, and landscaping. Over 140 million tons are recycled annually in the US.
