How to dispose of Old Gasoline & Fuel
Steps
- Never pour gasoline down drains, on the ground, or into storm sewers.
- Store in an approved fuel container with a tight-fitting lid.
- Do not assume old or contaminated fuel becomes usable by dilution. Ask a qualified mechanic or the engine manufacturer; otherwise arrange accepted hazardous-waste collection.
- Large amounts must be taken to a household hazardous waste facility.
- Contact your local fire department if you're unsure about safe transport.
Gasoline is extremely flammable and toxic. Transport in approved containers only. Never store in glass or unapproved plastic.
