DEA-authorized collection sites available throughout the state.
General steps
- Never flush medications down the toilet (except FDA-approved flush list).
- Use a DEA-authorized drug take-back program or collection site.
- Many pharmacies (CVS, Walgreens, Walmart) have medication disposal kiosks.
- If take-back is not readily available, follow FDA instructions: flush only medicines on its flush list; mix most other medicines, without crushing, with undesirable material in a sealed trash container as directed.
- Remove personal info from prescription labels before disposal.
