How to dispose of Paint (Latex & Oil-Based)

Steps

1. Determine if it's latex (water-based) or oil-based paint.
2. Latex paint: Use accepted paint recycling where available. Dry it for household trash only if your local waste agency explicitly allows this; never trash liquid paint.
3. Oil-based paint: Never pour down drains. Take to a hazardous waste facility.
4. If usable, donate to community organizations, theaters, or Habitat for Humanity ReStores.

Oil-based paints, stains and solvents can be flammable or toxic. Use an accepting household hazardous waste or paint collection program; legal classifications and local acceptance vary.
