How to dispose of Pesticides & Herbicides in California

General steps

1. Never pour pesticides down the drain, toilet, or storm sewer.
2. Keep in original labeled container — do not transfer to other bottles.
3. Take to your local household hazardous waste collection facility.
4. Check for community collection events which often accept pesticides for free.
5. Follow the pesticide label’s exact container-disposal instructions. Do not rinse or reuse household pesticide containers unless the label directs it; never pour rinsate into drains.
