How to dispose of Propane Tanks & Cylinders

Steps

  1. Never put propane tanks in regular trash or recycling bins.
  2. Small camping-style tanks: Check if your hazardous waste facility accepts them.
  3. Standard BBQ tanks (20 lb): Exchange at retail locations (Blue Rhino, AmeriGas) or refill.
  4. Larger tanks: Contact a propane dealer for proper pickup and recycling.
  5. Ensure tanks are completely empty before bringing to disposal.

Pressurized tanks can explode in garbage trucks. Always take to proper collection sites.
