How to dispose of Tires in California

Ask a tire retailer or CalRecycle-listed waste-tire facility about acceptance, quantity limits and fees. Do not assume a retailer has a universal ten-tire take-back duty.

- Most tire retailers will recycle old tires when you purchase new ones (often included in disposal fee).
- Check with your local waste hauler — some accept tires during special collection events.
- Never dump tires illegally — they collect water and breed mosquitoes.
- Some tire recyclers pay for large quantities of used tires.
