How to dispose of Water Filters (Brita, PUR, etc.)

Steps

  1. Brita filters: Use the free Brita recycling program through TerraCycle.
  2. PUR filters: Check manufacturer website for mail-back recycling options.
  3. Whole-house and refrigerator filters: Check with manufacturer for recycling programs.
  4. If no recycling program exists, water filters can go in regular trash.

Many water filter brands partner with TerraCycle for free recycling. Check the brand's website for mail-back envelopes.
