How to dispose of Clothing & Textiles in New York

New York rules

NYC has textile drop-off bins throughout all five boroughs.

If wearable: Donate to Goodwill, Salvation Army, local shelters, or consignment shops.
If worn out: Many retailers (H&M, Nike, Patagonia) accept old clothing for recycling.
Textile recycling bins are available at many parking lots and community centers.
Cut up old clothes for use as cleaning rags before discarding.
As a last resort, bag tightly and place in regular trash.
